It was only a matter of time...

Thanks to Wendy Sims, my first contributor to DSSH, we now have a pic of the product that just screams, "PUT ME ON YOUR FACEBOOK PAGE!!!" I've seen pics of this floating around for a while, but it's definitely something that feels right at home on this blog.

It's a classic British pudding btw. Yes, I had to look it up... and while I was looking it up, I kept saying/singing, "How can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat?"

Thanks again Wendy! If you see anything strange while out shopping, take a pic and send it to me:

Everybody Loves Bacon, Right?

My kids love bacon. I mean who doesn't? I always get compliments on my bacon when I cook breakfast on the weekends even though it pretty much cooks itself. I just watch it and baby it so that it's the way my daughters like it: not to soft and not too crispy.

For kids who love bacon as much as mine do, I thought for sure they'd love to find these in their Christmas stockings:

However, I think they were grossed out by the gift. I'll admit that they do look pretty foul covering up a scrape, but I thought they'd at least laugh at the humor of it. I found them on Amazon.com while I was ordering a bunch of presents a few weeks ago. It's only a matter of time before you find these in the corner drug store though.

Have you found any crazy items at your local drug store, grocery store, Walmart, Target, etc? Take a pic on your smart phone and email it to me. I'll post it on this blog and give you full credit.

Update:

Thank you to my friend Wendy Sims for sending me some bacon related pics:

Didn't Even Have To Get Off My Couch

I developed a really bad habit during the holiday season that just came to a close... *sigh*... I am now very addicted to Amazon.com. The deals are really good and with the iPhone app, I'm able to check items several times a day, and even order right from my phone. I recently found an iPod/iPhone USB charging block (regularly $29.95 at the Apple Store) for just $7.45! I picked up two. This year will be the year I introduce a new frugal me.

With that said, you can count on me scouring Amazon.com almost daily searching for not only great deals, but also weird/unique items that would fit the premise of the Drug Store Scavenger Hunt. I found this earlier this morning:

I'm not sure my girls would like this for their iPod Touch (don't think they even know what an Etch-A-Sketch is), but I think it's cool.

Testing

I just updated my BlogPress iPhone app and wanted to test out some of the new features, such as video upload. I'll end up deleting this later I'm sure. Until that time, enjoy a little blast from this past October. We always have fun in the stores. Here's a little Halloween section dance party:

Something New

It's always around the first of the year that I get inspired to do something new, be it a project around the house, a new DJ mix CD, some radio production, or in this case a new blog. I haven't really done any blogging since the TV show LOST ended it's six season run, and even then I didn't do a good job of keeping up with that blog (because I suck). This blog will be different because you will be helping me by contributing.

This blog is pretty much self explanatory: The Drug Store Scavenger Hunt. The inspiration came to me after I caught site of this little nugget:

Oh yeah, this may end up under your tree next year... Or on it. Then I came across these:

And of course I laughed because of the 13 year old that resides within me.

The premise is simple: find the most unique drug store item and post it here. I am not limiting this to just drug stores. If you find something good at the grocery store, or Target, or Walmart, post it. I'm always on the lookout for strange things so hopefully this blog will grow pretty fast with content. If you are not able to post pics in the comment section, just email them to me: tripp.west@gmail.com

Welcome to 2011! Happy hunting!
